After completing his apprenticeship in Western Australia, Kirk opened his first awarded restaurant, igniting his passion for being a restauranteur. After five years of success, he continued on to the Margaret River, working at prestige wineries, including Leuwin and Voyager Estate. Moving to the UK, he began working as a Private Chef, catering to the needs of public figures and celebrities, Lords and Ladies and at high-end functions, such a as weddings.
Settling in Sunshine Beach to enjoy the lifestyle with his family, Kirk presents a skilful but unpretentious blend of cuisines and ideas and thoroughly enjoys working with local and sustainable seafood. |
Qualified as chef in South Africa, with a Diploma in Catering Management 20 years ago, with over 25 years in the hospitality industry. Paul has worked across the world, through London and Europe in Michelin Star restaurants under some of the top chefs with the finest ingredients. During this time has sharpened his skills, learning five star techniques and developing his eclectic and unique approach to food. Bringing his expertise to Australia, Paul developed a passion for working with the diverse, fresh produce that Australia has to offer, resulting in earning a chefs hat in 2011-2012 in Brisbane. Moving to the Sunshine Coast and enjoying the ocean lifestyle, he was inspired to launch Barra Buoys to showcase his creativity with the wonderful seafood we have on offer.
